AREA SKIING and BOARDING

Idaho offers some of the greatest skiing in the "Lower 48."  Everyone has seen the pictures of the rich and famous taking their winter ski vacations at Sun Valley with it's famous Bald Mountain.  Sun Valley is only the beginning.  Idaho offers the skier and snowboarder a Disneyland of choices, many of which are within a two - three hour drive of the Treasure Valley.  Here are a few locations on the menu of destinations to whet the skier's appetite for adventure on Idaho's breathtakingly beautiful slopes.

Bogus Basin is only a 16 mile drive from Boise's north side.  It caters to both the beginner, as well as to the advanced skier or snowboarder who is looking for thrills (and maybe a few spills). Bogus Basin has two lodges, a ski school, nordic trails, half pipes, a tubing hill (remember tubing?) and more.

Up the road just 90 miles from Boise is the beautiful Tamarack Resort .  Winter sports run full boar with snowmobiling, snowshoeing, skiing, nordic skiing, cat skiing, snowboarding and more.  As time goes on, this fabulous resort will certainly make its mark as one of the nation's most popular winter destinations.

On up the road (about 110 miles from Boise) is the community of McCall with it's popular Brundage Mountain. Brundage is a winter wonderland and has been a favorite of Idaho skier's for a long long time.  The longest run here is around two and a half miles.  You'll get a workout but what a great way to do it.

Head east from Boise about 150 miles and you'll be at the foot of Sun Valley's Bald Mountain or Baldy as it's affectionately called.  Who knows who you'll run into on these slopes?  The mountain is loaded with fabulous runs and a weekend in Sun Valley or Ketchum can't be beat for a taste of Idaho's finest.

Many other great ski destinations can be found in the great state of Idaho.  Here's a link for you to check them out "Idahowinter.org."
